Abstract

The aim of this article is to examine the similarities and differences between low-level and high-level psychotherapy groups. High-level groups have a more complex process and can involve more people compared to low-level groups. The size of the groups can be flexible depending on the needs. The basic principles of group psychotherapy are valid at both levels and the role of therapists is important. Success experiences should be provided during group sessions and anxiety levels should be reduced. The individual's self-disclosure plays an important role in the healing process of group psychotherapy. When planning the groups, group leaders should select appropriate structured exercises and ensure uninterrupted progress of the process. In conclusion, there are similarities and differences between low-level and high-level psychotherapy groups. Specific skills and abilities of group leaders in managing the group process are important at both levels.
